How to Unpublish an Event

How to Unpublish a Blackbird RSVP Event (and when you don't need to)

Important: You Can Edit Published Events

Before we explain how to unpublish an event, we want to emphasize an important point:

You do not need to unpublish your event to make changes or updates.

All aspects of your event can be edited while it remains published and visible to your attendees. This includes:

  • Event details and description

  • Date and time information

  • Location details

  • Ticket prices and options

  • Images and design elements

  • RSVP questions and settings

Making changes to a published event is simple—just navigate to your event dashboard, make your desired edits, and save. Your changes will be reflected immediately without interrupting the registration process.

When Unpublishing May Be Necessary

There are only a few scenarios where unpublishing an event might be appropriate:

  1. You need to completely rebuild the event from scratch

  2. The event was published prematurely before it was ready

  3. You're creating a test event that shouldn't be visible to the public

  4. The event has passed and you don't want it living on that URL any longer

How to Request Event Unpublishing

Since unpublishing an event can affect registrations and visibility, we manage this process through our support team:

  1. Send an email request to [email protected]

  2. Include the following information:

    • Your name and account email

    • The exact title of the event you want to unpublish

Our team will process your request promptly and confirm when the action has been completed.

After Unpublishing: Important Considerations

If your event is unpublished:

  • Current registrants: People who have already registered will still have their registration information in the system

  • Visibility: Your event will no longer appear in search results or listings

  • Links: Direct links to your event page will not work while the event is unpublished

  • Re-publishing: If you wish to re-publish the event later, you can do so using the same Publishing workflow you did before.

Alternative Solutions

Instead of unpublishing, consider these alternatives:

  • Close registration: Learn how to close registration while keeping your event visible

  • Update key information: Add notes to your event description if major details have changed

  • Use the announcement feature: Send updates to current registrants if event details change
