There may be times when you need to close registration for your event while keeping the event page active. Whether you've reached capacity, finalized your catering numbers, or need to freeze your guest list for planning purposes, Blackbird RSVP makes it easy to close registration while maintaining your event's visibility.

Closing Registration While Keeping Your Event Page Active

Follow these simple steps to close registration for your event:

  1. Log in to your Blackbird RSVP account

  2. Navigate to your event dashboard

  3. Go to the RSVP Limits tab

  4. Set the attendee limit to a number your event has already reached

    • For example, if you currently have 42 registrations, set the limit to 42

  5. Save your changes

That's it! Your event registration is now closed, but your event page remains visible to viewers.

What This Does

When you set the attendee limit to your current registration count:

  • New visitors will still be able to view your event page and details

  • The RSVP section will show as "Registration Closed" and it will not accept new responses

When to Close Registration

Consider closing registration in these situations:

  • You've reached your venue's capacity

  • You need to finalize headcounts for catering or materials

  • You want to focus on preparing for already registered attendees

  • Your planning timeline requires a registration cutoff date

Alternative: Temporary Registration Pause

If you might want to reopen registration later:

  1. Follow the steps above to close registration

  2. When ready to reopen, return to the RSVP Limits tab

  3. Increase the attendee limit to your desired new maximum

Best Practices for Closing Registration

  • Communicate clearly: Consider sending an announcement email to registered attendees letting them know registration has closed

  • Update your event description: Add a note mentioning that registration is closed (e.g., "Note: Registration for this event is now closed")

  • Waiting list option: Consider adding contact information for people who want to be on a waiting list
