Privacy is an important consideration when creating events. Whether you're planning a private celebration, corporate function, or exclusive gathering, Blackbird RSVP offers features to help control who can view and register for your events.
Current Privacy Features
Blackbird RSVP currently offers two key privacy settings to help you control access to your event page:
Search Engine Visibility
By default, your event page is set to remain private from search engines like Google. This means:
Your event won't appear in search engine results
People won't stumble across your event through web searches
The page is only accessible to those who have the direct link
When publishing your event, you have the option to change this setting if you'd like your event to be discoverable through search engines.
To adjust search engine visibility:
Navigate to the "Privacy" section of your event dashboard
Look for the "Search Engine Settings" option
Select your preferred setting
β
Passcode Protection (Subscription Feature)
For subscription users, we offer an additional layer of security through passcode protection:
Add a custom passcode that attendees must enter to access your event page
Only those with the passcode can view details and register
Perfect for private or exclusive events
Important: Guests invited through our email invitation system will automatically bypass the passcode requirement, creating a seamless experience for directly invited attendees.
To set up passcode protection:
Go to the "Privacy" tab in your event dashboard (available for subscription users)
Enable the "Passcode Protection" option
Create a memorable passcode for your event
Save your settings
Guest Quantity Limitation
While not a privacy feature specifically, you can control how many guests each attendee can add to their reservation:
Set a global maximum for additional guests per registration
Once this limit is reached, the "Add Guest" button will no longer appear
Helps manage total attendance without restricting who can register
To set guest limitations:
Navigate to the "RSVP Limits" tab in your event dashboard
Look for the "Number of Additional Guests" section
Enter the maximum number of additional guests allowed per registration
Save your settings
Coming Soon: Enhanced Privacy Features
We're excited to share that we're developing additional privacy features to give you even more control over your event access:
Guest List Verification (Coming Soon)
Soon, you'll be able to restrict registration to a pre-approved list of guests:
Upload a list of authorized attendees
Guests will need to enter their name to verify eligibility
Only approved individuals will be able to complete registration for the number of allowed guests in their reservation
Perfect for members-only events, corporate functions, or invitation-only gatherings
Choosing the Right Privacy Settings
Consider these factors when deciding on privacy settings:
Use passcode protection when:
Your event is exclusive or private
You're sharing sensitive information
You want to limit attendance to a specific group
You're distributing the link widely but want to control access
Disable search engine visibility when:
Your event isn't meant for the general public
You're hosting a private function
You don't want the event details discoverable online
Keep search engine visibility enabled when:
You want to maximize attendance
You're hosting a public event
You want to leverage organic search traffic
Best Practices for Event Privacy
Clear communication: Let invited guests know if they'll need a passcode
Secure sharing: Share the event link and passcode through secure channels
Regular monitoring: Check your attendee list periodically for unexpected registrations
